Impact Economy Collective
The UK faces some of the most complex public challenges in a generation. Government alone cannot meet them.
But it doesn't have to.
Across philanthropy, impact investment and purpose-driven business, organisations are already investing in and delivering solutions to these very problems, contributing an estimated £428 billion in Gross Value Added, around 15% of UK GDP. For too long, these parts of the system have operated separately, making it harder for government to draw on their combined capability.
The Impact Economy Collective was established to change that.
Working together to address societal challenges
Hosted at the London School of Economics and convened by AchieveGood, the Collective brings together leading organisations from across the impact economy to support government in addressing the challenges it has identified as priorities. It is a collaborative platform focused on practical delivery, where the collective intelligence and capability of the whole achieves what no single organisation could alone.
How We Work
The Collective supports government through Policy Labs, place-based delivery and strategic engagement. Policy Labs begin from government's own policy questions, co-designed with departments and bringing together policymakers, investors, philanthropists, purpose-driven businesses, wider civil society and people with lived experience to develop implementable solutions, funding models and delivery pathways.
What We Have Delivered
In ten months, the Collective has delivered Policy Labs with the Department for Education on Early Years and Fostering, with MHCLG on Pride in Place and with DHSC across Health and Work, Cancer and Neighbourhood Health. In each case, work continues beyond the Lab as co-designed ideas move into implementation with government and partners from across the impact economy.
